Romanesco Sculpture by Local Makers

Total Weight – 450KG

Printing hours – 7000

Our client Monira Al Qadiri got a new commission by the Via Nova college to 3D print a giant sculpture of  a Romanesco broccoli that would be 3 meters high. Local Maker helped Monira with the entire process, starting with the scanning of the Romanesco broccoli and ending with the mounting of the sculpture to the wall of the college it is exhibited in.

Due to the impressive proportions of the sculpture, Local Makers needed to 3D printed it into parts and assembled it together. After assembly, the sculpture was spray painted with beautiful iridescent car paint and mounted in the college.

The Romanesco broccoli is exposed at the Via Nova college in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
