After PVA, Ultimaker has a new support material, the Breakaway material. This material is a white material that prints easily, and is removed quickly.
Breakaway material is a remarkable reliable new solution for your prints. The removal is easier when compared to other materials. With pliers, a knife or even your hands, the support material is quick to remove.
Which advantage does Breakaway material offer? The biggest advantages are the surface quality of your print, which is not affected, and the time of removal. Breakaway material has a better resistance to environmental conditions, such as temperature and humidity. This improves the shelf life of the material. Using Breakaway material is more cost efficient than other support materials.
Although it is a support material, the Breakaway material is printed on a 0.4mm AA print core. The BB print cores are only optimized for PVA material.
This Breakaway material is compatible with the following filaments in the Ultimaker range:
We recommend Breakaway material for flat and angled surfaces, and it is an ideal solution when supporting water sensitive materials like Nylon.
